History

The National University of Avellaneda arises as a result of a debate on university planning and by virtue of the historical background that refers to the cultural and educational wealth of the city of Avellaneda. It establishes as objectives the training of people of high ethical, political and professional quality as well as the generation and adaptation of knowledge, the conservation and reinterpretation of culture and active participation to lead processes of change towards a better quality of life for the community. in which it is inserted.

Thus, a new educational proposal of excellence arises that guides its institutional and training mission by virtue of the project that gave rise to it and that keeps its foundations in democratic principles, pointing to critical reflection through interdisciplinary work and the relationship with society. community.

A proposal that links the local reality from a national academic field that seeks to respond to the demands of a better society.

Research

The Research function at the National University of Avellaneda is developed through two lines of work:

  1. On the one hand, the production of knowledge, aimed at investigating relevant facts and phenomena of the regional social reality.
  2. On the other hand, the training of human resources for the development of research activities.

The production of knowledge at UNDAV includes two work modalities that pursue different purposes: basic research and applied research. The first of them is aimed at the production and/or transfer of novel basic knowledge about the characteristics, foundations and functioning of phenomena and facts, without the explicit intention of application. For its development, it is necessary to manage and obtain subsidies by submitting research projects to contests.

Applied research seeks to produce interventions, changes and/or applications immediately and/or directly in a specific problematic situation. In its production, it makes use of already existing knowledge and, eventually, improves it or generates new ones. It arises from the demand and/or requirement of public and/or private sector organizations in the form of research or consulting contracts.

Training of human resources for research

The training of human resources for research is developed through the curricular content of undergraduate and especially postgraduate programs, aimed at developing skills in the field of scientific research, and through the promotion of active participation of students. in research projects led by trained researchers. In this framework, the research teams operate as an area of ​​training and socialization in academic activity and are made up of researchers of different categories: trained researchers, project directors, undergraduate and postgraduate thesis students, and technical support staff.
